Harold Green ft. BJ The Chicago Kid-Honey Moon
On the path of artistry, it is important that we stop and support, watch, and learn from other artists on their particular path. Today, I took the time to check out a few of my fellow Chicagoans, BJ the Chicago Kid (who has an AMAZING album. Get it HERE.), and the homie Harold Green. On this joint, they team up and do a beautiful love joint. Needless to say, nobody can do it quite like these two when they link up. Check them out!!!

Hassaan Mackey x Apollo Brown: Daily Bread
They gave the black man a black pres but what for?/
Only to try and blame us more, while we live under the radar fighting the us war/
Can't figure it out
What the fuck for?
Anybody kwho knows me KNOWS i'm a hip-hop head with pride. I love music, but i love finding new, undiscovered music. I'm a lil late on this one, but check out this album from NY emcee Hassaan mackey and Detroit producer Apollo Brown. Complete with gritty, introspective rhymes, hard knocking percussion, and soulful samples that have D-Town written all over them, this is NOT to be slept on. #SPITFOREVER

Big Girls Need Love Too…An Observation by Terry Odis
So…
This morning, I took the first open seat I saw next to a woman on the train to work (I secretly HATE sitting next to guys, cuz man thighs rubbing together is NOT what’s hot in the streets). The woman was black, big boned, and in her own world, and I was in mine too, which was a borrowed copy of Jay-Z’s Decoded. A slight bump on the train caused our worlds to collide; our legs brushed. I gazed down, and realized that her leg was close to double the size of mine, not a rare occurrence for a guy who JUST found his grown man weight of 185 lbs. This took me completely out of my book and launched me into a reflection of my own world, and a preference that I used to catch a bit of hell for before I became happily engaged; I like THICKER women.

A piece i wrote for friends on their wedding day
Marriage
Is more than a ceremony
It is as sacred as my savior
More divine
Than the nine fingers I leave unadorned
More special than precious metal I place around that one,
Love, you are what happens when exceptional leaves the fingertips of our father.
I have loved you
Before you were wrapped in mahogany
When we were mere spirits hidden in the basement of heaven
Resting on the work table of God
Our energies grazed way before my eyes laid their gaze on your physical frame
These rings
Are much more than decoration
They polarize our magnetic atoms
Adam had these when he was in the garden with Eve,
Love please, let’s spend beyond together forever
Let’s spend our sunset casting cares against the clouds
And matching them with fishing pole prayers into a sea of petitions
I petition you
Let’s take eternity to talk about our desires
And write them into time
Allow me to impregnate you with my dreams
And watch you birth them into reality
Let’s enjoy forever.

Another Freewrite...
if time and space are all that separate us
lets twist time into tornadoes
and ride them to each other
conga across calendars
waltz across wayward winds
i love you 5000 miles at a time
across oceans
desert storms
through talking sneakers
that wont hesitate to bump their gum bottoms
about each step we take together
sometimes forward
sometimes backward
sometimes sideways
cause sometimes love lives in the middle of minefields
but if we close our eyes
put faith to our feet
and dance in tandem
we can tango any trap that attempts to tangle us
if life insists on departure
we’ll spiral wildly in synchronized disaster
not truly separating in fear of losing life grip
let’s stretch
like lovers arms
bodies spinning round a shared gravity
admiring from afar
until our next abrazo
